When I close the lid I have it set to do nothing, but whenever I open it again all of my icons are shoved in the upper left corner. I have them normally aligned along the top of the screen. Why does this happen and what can I do?

Also, the majority of the time I run my laptop while it's plugged in. Should I remove the battery to prolong it's life if it's running off the AC?

Last question: yes. If you run for a week plugged in, remove the battery after you have fully charged it. If it is for a few days: not necessary.

First question: I think that is caused by the fact that the notebook changes its resolution. Maybe to 1024x768 which causes the icons to move to the upper left corner. Maybe a bug, I don't have such a problem.
