Hi, I posted a while back wondering if anyone has figured out what to clean the Microsatin lids of the new Inspirons with. I was told to only use water with a Microsatin cloth but it really doesn't do ANYTHING. All the dirt from fingers and things is still there, you just can't see it as well on the Microsatin unless you look at it from the side. Any ideas?

Yes, but that's for the m1330 plain paint lid. Not a Microsatin finish. It's different The Microsatin lid is almost fabricy, it's also non-friction. It's more like a really thin skin.

I don't know if that link will help him though. He already said he tried "water with a Microsatin cloth" and "it really doesn't do ANYTHING."
I used to know someone who collected vinyl LP's and he used a dilute solution of dish soap (like Ivory liquid or Joy) and water to wipe his LP's. Maybe something like that on a lint-free cloth would clean the fingerprint oil without damaging the paint. It certainly wouldn't be as harsh as Windex. -
hey. i have a 1520. does that have the microsatin lid? i dunno. anyway- i use some dish soap on a wet paper towel. wipe gently once. then wipe away gently with a dry paper towel. works great on the lid and LCD. easy as pie.

Wanna know what I use that works.. perfectly?
Get a face cloth, don't have one? get some paper towel, take 2 sheet/segments fold them into a square the size of you're palm, wet it but don't crumple it up, but drain the water out of it so it's not like dripping all over. Then just wash off the lid like you would a table.. then leave it for 5 minutes for the air to dry it.. works flawless with my midnight blue 1520..
