What is the best/safest way to clean a 1280x800 glossy screen from Dell. Mine has accumulated some dust.

Windex sells microfiber cloths and they work great. They're in a blue box in most any store these days. Get it slightly damp (only a few drops of water) and wipe the screen. It'll look like new with no dust at all.

What about Pledge Grab It: Dry Cloth. That's what I have at home at the moment. I think it's about the same thing.

Never use any paper products..... It can scratch...

    You are better off using:
    1) Air to blow off loose particles
    2) Light brushing with micro fiber or eyeglass lens cleaning cloth (untreated)
    3) If absolutely necessary, distilled water or isopropanol alchohol (put on the cloth, not screen)

Note: Never use any ammonia based products (like windex)!

    Dell says don't use Alchohol...

Also, why didn't you read the manual? It is all right in the manual...

Yes, the cloth you clean your eye glasses with is perfect.

    edit:
Let me rephrase...the cloth that you would buy at a store that is intended to clean your glasses is perfect :)

I have always found laptop screens to be pretty resilient... the old Tshirt swipe has worked wonders for me over the years even on glossy screens...

YES! My Alienware has gotten 4 years of T-shirt swipes while working on coding projects for 15 hours at a time in college....good old alienware workhorse. I have a 1520 now and I love it but I don't think I'll ever get rid of my college lappy.
