So then, now that Dell have all their drivers up "almost" what is the best way to go about this. Whats the best order to install them?
1. Install Vista 32bit (clean hard disk using an OEM prem disk)
2. Intel Mobile Chipset Drivers*
3. nVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS Drivers
4. SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Drivers*
5. Synaptics Touchpad Drivers*
6. Intel Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Drivers*
7. Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller*
8. Conexant D110,HDA,MDC,v.92,modem Drivers*
9. Ricoh R5C832 Drivers*
10. Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module*
11. Dell QuickSet
The ones with a * are they needed from Vista's default drivers?
Drivers are all here.
Thanks.

I would install Windows Vista first, and see which deices aren't recognised. Then, based on the unrecognised devices, install the approriate driver. Some will be recognised, but some won't, as Vista willnot have all the drivers stored in its database. Hope this helps.

It's probably just me since I'm not too updated on new computer stuff, but it seems like there's quite some work to do with Vista. I'm not installing Vista, I'm about to order a Dell notebook with Vista already installed. Since its gonna already be in there, everything should be fine right since Dell wouldn't let me choose stuff that wouldn't work on my notebook correct?
Also I would like to know what you think of Vista? I'm feeling a little iffy about going for something new especially if its this new. Thanks -
I think that Windows Vista will be a little buggy and incomplete to begin with, but slowly, updates and service packs will fix that, and it should become q very good operating system. Dell shouldn't sell you something that shouldn't workand I imagine, that all the drivers are set up correctly, so that you can simply start using the notebook.

So you think itll be relatively ok to go on ahead to order my notebook? I'm kinda in the need for it but i'm a little hesitant about this Vista thing but i mean even if there's some few stuff going wierd, it shouldnt be anyhting too big to the point where computers arent workin properly. probably certain gadgets and other misc. stuff if anything...

Ofcourse, if you need the notebook now, then by all means, purchase it. There's little point in waiting for something to mature, because it takes quite a while, and the majority of things will involve small components, and uneeded devices from working.

I don't think your going to have too many issues with Device Drivers for Vista. When I did a clean install actually all my drivers were recognized by Windows Vista. The only thing I see is a Base System Device and from what I have read has something to do with the Ricoh SD Reader and I have not found a Vista Driver for it. And after I updated to Vista I made sure I got the latest drivers from the manufacturers because when I had updated at the time Dell had very little drivers on there website. It should be a relatively painless process.

Agreed. I somehow expect it to go very well.
Clean Vista install on a 9400/E1705!
