When watching videos on iTunes 7.0.2 the display is very choppy. Oddly enough when it starts playing it is fine, but if I move the mouse then it gets choppy. If I stop and then press play again, again it's fine until I move the mouse.
I never had this problem until a week ago. I don't know what caused this problmem. I tried using 7.01 but that's also bad.
Yesterday I reformatted and reinstalled Windows (had to much junk, was planning on this for a while) but the problem still is there. I have no problems with other video (or dvd) programs.
(Controllers are set to DMA, and QuickTime is set to safe mode GDI only.)
My video card is ATI radeon x1400. When I lowed the hardware acceleration it gets a little better, but not the way it should be.
Could it be a Hardware issue? Why only in iTunes?
Help... please....

Ugh, another iTunes problem in Windows. Imagine that. My guess is that something is bogging down your cpu. Thats a typical response that happens to a movie. Try closing excess things in the background. How much RAM do you have?
-
I have around 60 processed running (nothing intensive) and I have a gig of ram.
What's especially weird is that the problem only starts once I move the mouse.... -
boooo itunes *thumbs down*

When I am watching videos on iTunes, the task manager says that the CPU is only at around 50 - 70 percent. So it's probably not that....
-
CPU 50~70% on a CoreDuo / Core2Duo ? that is too much (unless your CPU is undercloked to something like 500MHz). Safemode GDI sounds to me like its not using Hardware acceleration. Try turning that option off.
Best option drop iTunes completely! -
I get the same thing on my desktop, I think it has something to do with one of itunes tatest updates...
-
I like iTunes (I know I may be killed for that) it just has to work! -
Also, I started having this problem after weeks of using iTunes 7 (or 7.01 or 7.02) w/o any problems.... -
window media player man, way better than itunes.
-
The main question is - is it possible the problem is a hardware issue with the graphics card, or is that not a possibility?
-
What I meant was not intentional undercloking, Windows automatically underclocks the processor when the load is low. Easiest way to find out the current speed is through System Properties (Right click My computer > Properties)
Try with one of the following media players : Media Player Classic, VLC Player or Windows Media Player. If those players work smoothly then it is an iTune problem. All the above players are free , Media Player Classic being the best.
PS: iTunes is one of the crappiest players I?ve seen -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
how is the performance of other video apps? if you get choppy playback from everything, it could be an issue with your hardware, if its just itunes, probably not

IF your CPU range to 70 to 50% , then there must be something running behind. I think it's a spyware or something running to make the CPU jumps high like that. please remember that 70 to 50% is a lot for a task. I only reach this when I convert Videos and such. Other task such as watch videos , browse web is very low.
Forget about Itunes, If u're watching MP4 videos, switch to VLC media player or KLITE codec (aka Media Player Classic). Those 2 players supports whole lot of format even though there's error on the video file, it's still play in VLC.
Please run an MSconfig in RUN to check if there is unecessary task or suspicious task ( based on folders names that sounds not anything like program you install). I only left one of Java turn on and some proograms of Intel wireless, firewall, antivirus. Other than that I disable them.
If it's not the software that causes this, so the computer hardware has a problem.
Choppy video playback - bad graphics card?
