I have a Dell Inspiron which gets used maybe four times per year. The battery is dead and usually that is no problem as I use it traveling, and motels have the connection I need. However this past week end with no power for three days, I really wanted to get on the internet. I have been looking at batteries that are advertised as 6 cell and 9 cell. Does the nine cell have any real advantage that would make spending the extra money seem sensible?

it comes down to how long do you need to run on Battery power

The 9 cell will run about 50 % longer.

This is basically it. It will be 50% heavier and last 50% longer (won't necessarily be 50% more expensive, though)... take your pick. Can't have your cake and eat it just yet.
