I'm currently searching for a speaker solution for my xps m1530. I got the ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi® Xtreme Audio Sound Card, and was considering 2 different speaker systems. One is the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System~ http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO

and the other is the Klipsch Groove PM20 2.0 Speaker System~

The former is a 2.1 setup while the latter is a 2.0 setup. The latter is portable,
the former is 33 lbs., but has a subwoofer. Would you get either the 2.1 or 2.0 setup, do you have either, or what would you prefer?

I love bass.......REALLY love bass.......so given the choice, I would always choose something that has a subwoofer.

It really boils down to whether or not you plan on taking your speakers with you when you move your laptop. If so, you may want to consider having one set of really good speakers with a sub to use at home, and then something portable to take with.

hmmm, these portables have decent bass, and I already have an incredible 2.1 klipsch ifi system for my ipod which I think I can somehow plug into my laptop. I'll go for the portables

Yes you can get a cable that has the headphone size connector (3.5mm?) on both sides.
