It seems like Dell changes their online offerings every week or sooner, I've read many use the term Dell Coupons. I've been looking at the Inspiron 1525, one night the color choice for the lid was no extra charge, tonight it's $25.00 extra.

Under productivity software you could get MS Works 9.0 at no extra charge, now it's not available on the 1525, you have to choose an upgrade, it is available on the Inspiron 1526, Dell makes it all so confusing.

I'm trying to configure an entry level Dell notebook to replace my 2 year old Inspiron 1300 which I dropped but everything offered by Dell now seems way out of line and features and price. I don't need 4GB of memory or a huge HD, 80 to 120 HD would do.

I do need 2GB of memory due to Vista. Are there certain times of the week that Dell introduces cheaper configurations? If you call and speak to Dell sales can you make a deal with them? These Dell coupons I've heard mentioned, where can you get them?

Check the dell coupons. I would recommend just going to dell outlet really. I would buy an outlet get CC and just do whatever to my nb. If the outlet nb doesn't have 2 gb its easier than unwrapping a lollipop to upgrade the memory just check out newegg

I checked out Dell's Outlet and they had several "ordered as new" and "certified refurbished". Either way would be good? I've read a lot on Dell's forum about touchpad issues on the 1525, new or not I don't want to buy something I'll have problems with. Is the warranty on a refurb the same as new? I have noticed there is no free shipping on outlet products. Is there a restocking fee on returns, new or refurb?

You could pick up a preconfigured 1525 at Best Buy or Wal-Mart. They tend to be a better deal than similarly equipped models from Dell and come in several colors for no additional charge.
