    Hi!

I just received my 1705 that I purchased used. Wow...these things are HUGE, and pretty awesome too!

Anyway, the first thing I noticed was the the plastic "grid" on the DVI port was pretty mangled. The metal pin-connects are fine, not bent at all, and the area around the horizontal spade is fine as well...it's just the grid. Some of the plastic is broke, bent, or about to break.

I know this may be a bit of a silly question but, DVI is important to me (whole reason I went with a 1705) and I can't afford to have the DVI port take a crap on me in a couple months from normal use. I'll be plugging and unplugging A LOT.

SO...if the plastic continues to wear and break will it cause problems with the connection? Again, it's just the plastic, not the actual pins...

    Thanks!

Edit- I should say that I don't blame the seller at all...he wasn't aware of the damage and only used the port a few times...but it is what it is and I wasn't expecting to see it in the condition that it's in.

I've had my 1705 for over a year now and haven't noticed any damage to the DVI port. It gets used quite a bit and hasn't chipped at all. It sounds like the port was man-handled - that's the only thing I've ever seen cause damage to video ports.

As long as there is still separation between the pins and the connector locks in securely, you shouldn't have any problems.
