    Charging laptop (inspiron n5110)?
Hello, i am new in using laptops, purchasedDell inspiron 5110 a week ago, i wanted to ask which method of charging battery is better?

    1) Should i charge my battery when the laptop is off and lid is closed
    2) When i am using the laptop?

or if both methods are fine , then which method should i prefer more for better battery life?

    and one more thing

If suppose i have 30-80% battery charge remaining , should i still plug the charger or not? And if i have plugged the charger and it exceeds more than 100% battery charge should i unplug , because i usually use my laptop without charger and only plug the charger when 11% of charge remaining, should i keep continuing doing that or prefer using laptop when charger is plugged

Really depends on your specs. If you have discreet graphics and a power hungry CPU, charging while running your laptop full blast maybe slow to charge your battery. Charging while it is off is fine.

Do not let a battery reach anywhere near 0%. That can ruin a battery.

i am having intel graphic family 3000, 3gb ram, 500hdd

i pretty much make sure for the battery to not reach less then 10% either or more then 99%. i sometimes charge my battery when laptop is off and sometimes while running, would it effect my battery life?

Battery information from Battery University covers the basics and a lot more.

The important thing is to avoid deep discharge of the battery; I try to keep mine above 30%, but you can't let molly-coddling the battery dictate your usage.
