I bought my wife a 1720 about 4-6 weeks ago - and she loves it. It has WXGA+ anti-glare screen - I got that for her because she does a lot of Photoshop/Lightroom work.
Now my new 1520 has arrived with WSXGA glossy screen and she thinks it's better than hers and has started asking about swapping her screen on her laptop. I don't think that's possible, but thought I would ask here. Would Dell do that or would I have to buy the part from Dell and try and swap it myself? I think that's just fraught with risk and I don't think I would even try it.
I have told her she is stuck with what she has........

It's possible to do it.
You can find instructions here
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1720/en/SM/display.htm#wp1181086
and there is also a service manual that has better pictures.
I expect Dell would do it... for a price. -
Yup it's really easy to do...
Dell will do it for a fee obviously.. lol..

According to this link http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...cs=22&l=en&s=dfh&mfgpid=190454&chassisid=8453
a replacement WUXGA screen from Dell would be $363.95.
You can find them cheaper on ebay, if you want to do it yourself.
Whether you have to send it in or not may depend on what type of warranty you have. You might want to call Dell and ask them what they'd charge for the labor.
