    Hello,

I'm trying to change the screen inverter in my laptop. The screws are cross-shaped and very small in this part of the computer, and I don't have the right screwdriver. I tried with a Phillips size 00 screwdriver but it doesn't fit. I think I would need a flat one.

Has anybody encountered this problem? I don't know where to buy the right tool.

Err just find the largest screwdriver that will fit so you don't strip the screws. I don't know about the exact sizes but inverter replacement for the 6400/E1505 is pretty straightfoward.

Yes but where can I find a screwdriver that fits?
There were no super-small cross-shaped flat-headed screwdrivers at my local hardware store. Are these special tools used in electronics?

You could get a old Phillips Head and a file.

File the head flat then file the inside corners to a 90 degree instead of round.

    I did that.

    or

You could just try a Flat tip that fits tight and see if that will work.

Go to your local Fry's or whatnot and get a set of precision screwdrivers. If you don't know what you're looking for, the employees should at least be able to put you in the right direction. Sets aren't too expensive; you can typically get something decent under $10.

    Thanks everyone.
I've found a set of really tiny phillips screwdrivers at an electronics shop.

Now I'm waiting for my inverter to arrive, fingers crossed...
