    I bought a Vostro 1500 about 6 months ago, but 1280x800 is just getting really old to me, I really want the higher resolution screen (What resolution is it exactly, 1680x1050?). How would I go about doing this, and about how much do you think it would cost, if it's even possible

    There is 1440x900 == wxga+ and there is 1680x1050 == wsga.

    You can buy a replacement screen on ebay. 150 -250 are their prices typically, and you could resell your old one to make up part of the cost. Its fairly easy to change it out, check out dell's service manuals they have on their website if you need a step by step guide.

    LP154WP2 .. take a look. Its the MacBookPro LED screen.

    Ooohh... $250.

    I'd give a call to one of these LED resellers and chat about upgrades and the in's and outs of em... also... see if they have some info on screen grainyness.

    In fact... I think I'll call one myself, just to find out...

    Ebay or call Dell and buy a screen kit. It varies from $205 - $309 (Canadian). Each kit includes the screen, auxiliary cable, and replacement bumpers.

    Well, What is your guys' opinion. I play CS:S alot, and I have the 8600GT. At 1280x800 I can play all settings max, and 4xAA and 4xAF and get 50FPS constant. Could it play at 1440x800 or possibly 1680x1050 smoothly with default AA and AF? I don't want to get it and then have to play at a lower resolution than the native.

    I'm in your same situation.. 1280x800 is perfect for full screen gaming but when it comes to normal use there just ain't enough space on the desktop.. I don't think you should consider 1680x1050 because the video card would probably suffer alot!
