I just bought a 700m on ebay ($850 with DVD burner and 2 year warranty!).

The only downside I saw to the unit was that it had XP Home. As I'll be hooking this up to 2 different networks (at home and office), I think (but am not sure) that I'll need XP Professional. I'm pretty new to XP, using Win2k and debian at home.

    1) Will I need XP Pro to seemlessly connect to multiple networks?

    2) Will Dell be able to accomodate me, or will I have to shell out $140+ for an upgrade online?

XP Home can store information on multiple networks, both wired and wireless, and connect to any one of them either manually or automatically if in range/plugged in. It can even be used to connect to secured networks (it will prompt your for your network key while connecting). Some network features, such as remote access, are not available in XP Home.

Great to hear, thanks. Sounds like I should be good to go.
