abaxter (who I've noticed post briefly on this topic) or anyone who knows, what are the expected differences for the upcoming updated 9300 or new model 9400?

    1) Dual processor option I've heard

    2) No PCMCIA slot? - why not?

    3) TrueLife , Resolution changes & LCD manufacturers?: What will these changes be. The biggest complaint of the 9300 appears to be the LCDs with light leakage, etc.

"TrueLife": I personally do not think gloss belongs on notebooks due to eye strain caused by glare in variable lighting environments & long history of anti-glare coatings/filters for screens to mitigate that problem but I'm aware new applications such as gaming & TV have likely spurred on this trend & clearly some people like it. Aside from LCDs without problematic frequent light leakage, why not have more options like WXGA+, WSXGA, WUXGA resolutions with & without "TrueLife" finish?

If ordered in today's computing environment I think WXGA+ (matte finish) is more practical for general pc use while higher resolutions make sense for primarily graphic-intensive use.

Please do not tell me "Truelife" gloss/glare will take over all resolutions...give me options!

    4) Design differences?

    5) I've noticed what looks like an internal TV tuner card option vs former external USB option recently.

    Anything else?

I will likely order by 1/4 or 1/11 depending on deals as I'm not sure I want to wait that much longer-would be great if it soon went back to base $999 :)'

    Thanks so much!

We can't officially comment on this, sorry. I'm sure if you investigate other threads though, you'll find interesting information. If it helps though, all indications are that the dual core machines will run several hundred dollars more.

I understand Brian - I had expected the dual cores to cost significantly more but some people were saying it wouldn't...thanks for the sites BTW

All I can tell you is that we've seen pricing for several and they're more expensive.
