    Hi!

Does anyone know if it would be possible to upgrade the Studio 17 to a Centrino 2 processor (user replaceable)?

    Thanks!

No, it uses a different chipset. They may add Centrino 2 later on, we don't know yet.

    excuse my computer illiteracy...

what difference will Centrino 2 make versus the current CPU?

    long lasting?

and taking into consideration that the current model is at best a mid-tiered consumer product line, will it make a lot of difference?

The new chips have better power requirements than the current Core 2 line/. Basically, more GHz, less power consumption.
