Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Congrats, The only thing you should even THINK about overclocking is the vid card, and even then I'd be wary, see how it handles the games you play first, I've read both good and bad things about the GSX mod, do a search in the gaming forum for more deatails.

Over Clocking isn't a good idea as it'd greatly increase the amount of heat the computer generates. In fact, the first thing you should do is under-volt the CPU - I recently found that it's great at reducing heat
-
Alright no overclocking. I've never been convinced it was a great idea but i saw so many threads about it especially with the 7900gs.

It can be a boon to the video card, just be careful, and research, research and research. Overclocking is not guaranteed, what works for one individual graphics core, wont always work for another of the same make and model. A good example is my desktop CPU, (I know your talking about a video chip, but the priniple works for both) My A64X2 runs both cores at 2GHZ stock, one core can go all the way up to nearly 3GHZ and run the prime 95 torture test for hours with no problems, the other core craps out in minutes at 2.7 GHZ.
You also need to factor in what you play and how you play it, if you can run your games with accaptable visual quality and frame rates, I wouldnt bother overclocking at all, if you need an extra push, you really need to weigh in the performance vs the cost in heat, ie, is a 5% raise in fps worth an extra 15% in overall system temp? That was just a random example, I've read of pretty hefty gains from the 7900 GS, I've also read of many card failures over a few months of running with those hefty gains, I OC'd my desktop 7900GT from 450/1350 stock to 535/1600, it ran like a champ for almost a year till vista, its also in a big roomy heavily cooled case,I'm at stock speeds presently, bottom line, desktops and laptops are two totally different animals in regards to overclocking, you've got a VERY powerful, and warm running system as is, so I suggest you tread carefully.
Another note, overclocking NV cards in vista is problematic at best via the best conventional methods, coolbits is gone, and may not ever resurface, NV's new N-tune is crap right now, I havent messed with riva tuner yet, I'm going to wait till the drivers mature. -
Nice configuration you got there,
congrats -
I'm on it right now. dang that was fast shipping.
This thing rocks. -
