    Cant get windows to install on dell inspiron 1440

    just got this computer it has fedora 14 running on it tryed to instal windows xp or 7 but it just keeps freezing on the load screen dont know what is wrong
    any help would be great

    Not saying it's the problem, but I just had this same issue on an Inspiron. It was a bad HDD. It would actually boot to the Windows load screen and try to do a startup repair but never get past the pretty blue screen. So I thought 'I'll just reinstall". Tried that and same thing. Took the HDD out and hooked it to an external and kept getting the format disk option. Tried and it just disappeared. So, I slap in a new HDD-BOOM!!!! Windows installs no problem. Just a suggestion.

    Just tryed a new hard drive no luck

    also did a safe mode and it stops on "disk.sys"

    Try running the Dell Diagnostics and see if all your hardware is in working order.

    did the full tests no problams also Fedora 14 works fine
