    On my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop that has Windows Vista Home Premium installed, when I try watching VCDs using windows media player, a black band appears on both the left and the right hand side of the screen, hence Im unable to play anything in FULL mode.

    Just to isolate the issue I actually tried playing a DVD movie using PowerDVD and I could play this movie sucessfully in FULL Screen Mode without any black bands next to it. So Im forced to believe this has something to do with the settings of Windows Media Player, also when I try playing the same VCD on my work station using Windows media player, I manage to get to play the movie in full screen sucessfully. BTW, my work station has Windows Xp PRO media center version installed.

    Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. I havent tried playing the movie using VLC media player yet, I will give that a try as soon as I get a chance.

    The specs for my laptops are as follows;

    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T6400 (2GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache)

    Windows Vista(R) Home Basic SP1 Edition 32 bit

    4GB Dual-channel 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM

    ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD4330 - 256MB

    Thanks

    Very odd; I'll dig out a VCD and see if it also happens on mine.
