So I recently bought Dell Inspiron 17R Core i7 4500U edition and wanted to install Windows 8.1 via USB. I set up boot configurations and booted Windows 8.1. All went smoothly untill i chose custom instalation. There I formated OS partition (fifth out of six partitions on hard drive) and tried to install it there, but it won’t let me. It says that Windows cannot be installed to this disk and that the selected disk is of the GPT partition style. Can someone tell me how to install Windows on that partition. I also want to know what are other 5 partitions for. Can I format them all and make 1 and install it to that partition? Thank you all for taking time for my problem! win1.jpg win2.jpg win3.jpg

If you are happy to live without the OEM recovery partition then just delete all and then re-partition.
