    Hello,

I have a Inspiron 1720 and I am unable to install SP1 for Vista.
After the reboot I get the message that the Installation was not successful.
    Error code 0x800706BA.
I did a complete system restore to factory default and I am still unable to install SP1 !!!

I tried to install SP2, but SP1 must me installed first !!

Also after installing updates and restart, sometimes the Startup Repair utility starts, because "your computer was unable to start"
Is this normal even with a clean factory default Vista ???

    What goes wrong here?

Hmm, I remember this happened to me once when I did a clean install. I think I found my solution somewhere in the BIOS. NOt sure though. Perhaps somone else can help you out. It was a quick option change. I remember only having two options.
