Greetings - I just flashed my e1505 to BIOS version A12. The BIOS update went fine - but now I cannot delete the BIOS update file/executable from my desktop. I even rebooted into safe mode - I still can't delete the file - which is named MM061A12 by the way. TIA

Do a file system check first, then reboot... I've had that issue a few times.

I've never had that problem. Just a shot in the dark - the BIOS might be using the update file located on your desktop. If you can't delete it after rebooting, then trying rerunning the file, but point it to a location on your C: drive. I have a folder on my C: dedicated to drivers, and tell everything to install/unzip in there. This way the BIOS should see the update in your C: folder and not the desktop.

Like I said - that is just a shot in the dark. I don't know if the BIOS would be using the file or not.

The BIOS certainly does not use a file on the drive at all - it's uploaded into memory on the motherboard.

Whenever you cannot delete a file, try unlocker.

unlocker is a tool created for this kind of trouble and is really convenient.

Thank-you, very much, for all of the timely responses. I saw mini's reply first, ran the file check, rebooted and was able to delete it. Kinda scary - I've updated Dell BIOS's (?) at least a hundred times (field software support for the Army) and have never had such a problem. Getting ready to sell the e1505 (nothing at all wrong with it - really like it) in order to order a new one w/ Vista - hopefully next month. Thanks again...
