Sad but true. I contacted dell and they told me my 1520 would be delayed. I looked into the Asus G1S-A1 from my local computer store and i was impressed with the laptop. I like it because the G1S-A1s 8600M GT uses GDD3 over dells GDD2. The asus was about $100 more than the dell. This is where it gets good. THere is a $100 mail in rebate for CANADA ONLY :p for the G1S-A1s

How was it $100...? My Inspiron/Vostro were both $600 cheaper than the G1/G2 easily.

Oh... if so then why would you get a dell in the first place? If those were my options I'd dive on the Gx series. At least for me it's a lot cheaper.

Well, most consumers know nothing about ASUS, Compal, etc. so they never really look around. Dell has much more marketing and word of mouth knowledge so there are huge differences in brand recognition.

Asus is generally more expensive part-per-part than Dell... but are built a lot better.

The only reason why I went dell is because it's $600 cheaper than a Gx laptop.

In the US, the price difference is quite large however up here, where Dell doesn't sell as cheaply, well, the price difference is a few hundred at most.

    ASUS G1s: $1,879.00 (2.2ghz, 160gb, 2gb, 8600GT, BT, WSXGA+, Vista Home Premium, 2 year International warranty, 30 day Zero Bright Dot policy)

Dell 1520: $1,789 (2.2ghz, 160gb, 2gb, 8600GT, BT, WSXGA+, Vista Home Premium, 1 Year Return to Depot Service and Technical Support)

The ASUS also includes a handful of freebies including remote, backpack, mouse, better video card, and the faster processor, and is less then $200~ more, which makes it a very comparable option. Plus, ASUS has a $100 USD rebate on the G1s, which makes the G1s even more cheaper then the 1520 up here.
