Well, I ordered my Dell XPS M1530 on the 25th. It's still in the production stage. The ship date changed as soon as I placed the order, was supposed to be the second.

I called numerous times to try to get an update on the order to know where it was or to get a free upgrade on shipping. They absolutely will not give me a free upgrade on shipping without canceling my order in which case I would have to place another order.

Dell is so screwy it is not funny. EVERY phone call I made I ended up having to talk to some script reading India based tech support that would not hesitate to lie to me (not unusual for India support).

The one time I got a hold of a human from the US they were actually helpful.

Is this what I am to expect from Dell? Only India tech support? They came on fire for this years ago and changed their ways but it seems went right back to them. Even the XPS number I called was India and all they could do is read scripts. One of them was extremely rude and just tried over talking me the whole time.

Every email I send comes back with the same scripted response, also from India!

    I am fed up.

Think I should cancel my order or just sell the laptop and make a profit when it comes in? I got the $749 off so I suppose I could make a few dollars off of it.

Either way I will NEVER buy a Dell again, and anyone I know who ever even thinks about it wont either after I am done convincing them. I won't support a company who not only has horrible support but also outsources all of said horrible support to India.

Funny thing is I was considering them for servers for my business, that wont happen. Way to lose a huge sale Dell!

Also, if this thing gets to my house will I be able to send it back without paying a (bs) restocking fee?

Free upgrade on shipping? For my order from 4/21 I received it on 4/28. I ordered it with standard 3-5 day shipping and still got it the same day as others who were supposedly given "free" overnight shipping for the delays. What specs did you order?

Don't call technical support - you should call customer care and ask to speak to a "Resolution Specialist". Tell them that your order was delayed by about 20 days (from May 2nd to May 25 right?) and ask if they would be able to assit you by upgrading your shipping. The resolution specialists are generally the ones that have the authority to take care of such issues.

    Good Luck!

I tried customer support, I think I tried every number I could find. All of it lead to India. What number are you referring to specifically may I ask? Thanks.

I ordered my XPS on 4/28 and it has a ship date of 5/28. I used Dell Chat to see if they could give me a real estimate on a ship date, and they couldn't. I asked what parts were holding it up, and they said I had to call some number.

    My system was 1530 Black / T9300 / 4GB RAM / 250GB 7200RPM / 1680 x 1050 LCD / 6 Cell Battery / Intel Wireless N / Bluetooth / Spare AC Adapter / 3 Year Warranty w/ Complete Care. ~$1400 out the door.

I recieved my LoJack software. Wish I would get my system soon.

What's holding up your system is the LED screen unfortunately.

mattocs, the harddrive you ordered is on backorder.

I ordered identical hardware on 4/28 and also got a ship date of 5/28. If it is because of the hard drive I wonder if you can get Dell to substitute a 320gb 5400 rpm and get it delivered any sooner?

Yeah...I would do the same. Maybe they would put the extra money paid out for the hard drive on a Dell gift card for me? I'd be cool with that.

Now that i've looked into it, the speed of the 250GB/7200RPM and the 320GB/5400RPM are very close.

Maybe I will call tomorrow and see what they can do.
