I have ordered an Inspirion 1520 with the following config:

    T7300
    2GB RAM
    160 GB 7200 RPM
    15.4 inch 1440 * 900...
    GeForce 8600GT with 256MB RAM (DDR2, I guess)
    Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy
    9 Cell Battery
    Windows Vista Home Premium

The estimated date of delivery is 10th December.
Now, I see that there is an option for the XPS M1530 available. The XPS beats the Inspirion on the looks and weight factor hands down. But, the XPS does have that basic 1280*800 screen.
Also, after I placed the order I came to know about the audio problem with the Inspirion 1520. I guess that is corrected in the XPS one especially since they have the headphone jack up front.

So, am complelety confused. For almost the same price, I have two options. What should it be?

Ok... Other than the bad screen, are there any other cons in taking an XPS over the Inspirion? Like for example, the heat dissipation etc while using intensive CPU and graphics(gaming ;) ) etc...

Well the Inspiron cost less for the same components so, it comes to Style Vs. Performance for the price.

the other thing i will like to say is...
i heard the 8700M GT is just an overclocked ver of 8600M GT
and since DELL promises XPS 1530 will have higher clocks than 1520,
does that make it par with 8700M GT
