The question is, in case the title is throwing you off. Where do the Canadian shipments from Dell come in from? The point of origin within the US.

The reason I ask is because obviously my package is comming in at some point but it was put on the truck at 9:11AM EST and depending on the distance ( and customs ) it could be here either tomorrow(as seen with some other members) or later this week.

Normally My packages are sent out on the friday and received on the monday or tuesday. This is the first time dell's shipped out a pc for me on a weekday not preceeding a weekend.

Anywho, any guesses or info would help me pass the time while i wait. :D

I don't know where their factory is in the US. But it took them two business days to get the package into Canada at Purolator Calgary Depot. Before that I couldn't even check my shipment status as it wasn't scanned by Purolator Canada yet. Now I know it's in a Calgary Depot and in transit. Judging form the fact that I'm in Vancouver, i guess I still have to wait a day or two before my xps 16 comes to me. Also, i would guess the US origin is somewhere along the longitude of Calgary or east of that, otherwise why wouldn't they choose a closer border crossing for my shipment?

Another thing, hitokiri1 how were you able to check that your comp is put on a truck at 9:11AM EST before it reached Canada? I emailed Dell and talked to Purolator numerous times, but they both said I won't get any shipping status unless the package has been scanned by Purolator Canada.

Wherever in the US it originates from, it must be far.

My order shipped on January 25th, yet I only received it about 12 hours ago.

When I checked the Dell.ca order status page it showed that the item had been shipped as well as a tracking number for puralator, when I click on the tracking number it showed me:

    TRACKING NUMBER
    Status In Transit in U.S.
    Date/Time FEBRUARY 1, 2010 AT 09:11
    Depot U.S.A. GROUND LINEHAUL

Dell phoned me today with an automated message saying I should expect my package tomorrow (February 3rd between the hours of 9-5. However Nothing has updated on the tracking page. If by 8PM EST the Puralator page hasn't updated then chances are I won't see my package until Feb 4th.

That's weird... cuz i had a somewhat different experience. At first I could get no info at all from the tracking number link to Purolator website... for two business days. Until my package arrived at Purolator Calgary Depot yesterday afternoon, where it was scanned and put into their system. After that, I got this from the same tracking number link to Purolator website:

    2010/02/01 15:09 Left CALGARY, AB
    2010/02/01 15:07 Shipment In Transit
2010/02/01 15:06 Picked up by Purolator

And I didn't get any call from Dell, but I called Purolator and they told me to expect the package sometime on Wednesday (tomorrow). I'm guess there is a different system that Dell has for West and Eastern Canada?

Anyways now I'm just anxiously waiting for my baby to arrive  Haven't felt like this since i was 9 LOL. Dell better not screw up anything more with my machine build.
