Well I think I have been lucky at picking to purchase my 640m on August 24th. Dell had a good sale goign on offering free upgrade of 512 ram and 120 gb hard drive. So here is what I am getting for $899.

    Intel® Core™ processor DUO T2050 (2MB Cache/1.60GHz/533MHz FSB)
    14.1 inch WXGA+ UltraSharp™ TFT Display with TrueLife™
    1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
    Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Free Upgrade to 120GB Hard Drive (5400 rpm) - $100 Value
    8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
    Dell Wireless 1390 Mini Card (802.11b/g, 54Mbps)
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

as for the system I plan to format it with xp pro, do you guys think that should effect my warranty with Dell? Should not effect the hardware warranties im sure right?

The reason I choose this one was purely for the price, like how wicked is it for the price? Anything compariable to details cost a minimus of $1200 so why spend an extra $300 if I don't have to? Any laptop is just going to be obselete 2 years after you buy it anyways.

It will not void your warrenty at all. Its recommended that you format to make everything run smoother. Also, with regards to my thread...im not realy one to gun it out with dell. Classes start ext week and I dont want to say something to Dell I might regret if something bad happens lol. If something is wrong with the exchange system then ill get

LOL well I asked the question about the warranty because I am installing my own copy of xp pro, the thing comes with xp home. But I network so I prefer pro, plus it just runs alot better.

you won't have a problem...I think their is a law stating that you can run anything on a PC you want, as long as it doesn't intentionally hurt the computer.

anyway, I've done the same *twice* so you'll be fine...
