After spending hours here, I decided to go for XPS 1530.

This is lightning speed with which Dell is working these days. (Although a bit concerned too now, what if they are shipping a used one!!! )

Its wicked!!!

 

I'm pretty sure they are shipping you a new unit, I wouldn't worry about it.
The only time you'd get a refurb, is from either the outlet, or if they ship you a replacement machine.

That's amazing, I ordered mine 3/29/08 and it is still in production ;_;. I'm in the US too. Laptop can't get here any slower. My est. ship date is 4/7.

 

It's just that I can't sleep now. And there are tons of 'worries' in my head after reading the forum pages for last n weeks.

LG screen, speakers, hinges, and so on.

 

could be a cancelled order similar to your config thats why its so fast.

Guys is there more to this or only A and B.

 

You should be able to access the parts list for your unit and see what you're getting. I knew that I was getting a Samsuck screen, but that didn't prepare me for just how bad it was and the sheer hell I've been going thru to get satisfaction from Dell. Years of goodwill are going up in smoke thanks to Dell's sloppy quality and lack of service. No wonder they're axing 8000+ jobs.

 

how do I access the part list (as in LG or Samsung)? I have the package slip which mentions these.

Log into Dell.com (My accouts)

Click on your order number and i should show a similar list to what you have posted but should also show "item number".

XR860 Module,Liquid Crystal Display 15.4WSXGA+,Samsung,M1530

Thats the one thats coming with mine, and apparently the XR860 is a samsung

 

Easiest way to find out your computer's parts list is to:

1. Go to support.dell.com
2. Click on Warranty Information (on the left-hand side)
3. Enter your service tag
4. Click on the third tab (Original System Configuration)

Well thats great to hear that they are still using the samsung screens- i spoke with a tech person online and he said theyre only using LG now. I did get the high res too so if I get one by samsung I think I am going to be really unhappy. I did speak to someone on the phone when I did place the order and she said they may still be using both lcds- I figured she probably just didn't know. We, I guess I will see- and if I am not happy may try to send it back.

 

Your probability of having an LG screen with the 1440x900 resolution is the highest from all 3 resolution. I received one with my original order and one with my replacement also. Check out the polls threads.

 

Dell Ireland, which is where the OPs laptop is coming from tend to process orders quickly. If they have the components in stock then there's no reason why a new laptop won't be delivered promptly.
