AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I think I have lost brain cells ever since I delt with dell. I cant take this anymore. I had a wonderful gateway for years, only crashing once in its 5 or 6 years of life (thanks to a virus getting on it), and I just had to listen to the people around me saying dell is number one.

Dell is $##@$@#$@# in my mind. I went from being first told 10 to 14 business days on augest first to finding out tonight its going to ship some time around the 27th of september and maybe get to my house in early october. I just can't deal with this anymore. I'm rigging a windows 98 laptop my dad used to use to get me through college till I get something that doesn't take forever to load up.

Honestly, this whole ordeal has made my family think I'm nuts about it and maybe I am now lol. I got to go to college tomorow and one way or another I'm getting the kick $#@ computer I've waited years for. Either that head flaking, dorky little, clothing is to big for him dell kiosk worker finds some way to calm me down, or I'm going to cancel the "biggest sell he ever made on a laptop". I would rather find a best buy or circut city compter off the shelf then deal with this company for one more day.

So what computers are looking good. Maybe an asus or the simple gateway. Just never say the d word to me again...I'M COMING FOR YOU DELL KIOSK WAHAAHAHAHAHA!

Oh and my dell is (maybe was or never had been) a blue inspiron 1720 with just about every good add on except 4 gb ram.

you've got quite a bit of choice in the 17" market.

Better laptops than the dell too. 8700GT's etc.. i'd cancel the thing in a heartbeat if i were you

That scares me, is it worse for the people who ordered the 17" screens because that would be JUST great. I want my damn laptop on time, on the date they told me, have told me for the last month...or else I'll join the riot with you :)

All manufacturers have had trouble get parts lately due to huge orders, but Dell is a special case, their customers are getting huge delays and they are apparently sacrificing quality to get the things delivered.

I remember a computer company called 'PC Company' in New Zealand, they basically did the same thing as what Dell is doing now, rock bottom prices, biting off more than they can chew, it wasn't long before they went bust. Although 'PC Company' was only NZ's largest local manufacturer, it does show what can happen when you starting going from silly to straight up stupid!

for $2000 to $3000, you should get yourself a Clevo m570RU (aka Sager 5790)
from www.sagernotebook.com or www.xoticpc.com or www.eurocom.com (go to the Sager and Clevo forum to get more resellers :) )

I don't know what you're using your PC for, but I'm unimpressed with what Best Buy/Circuit City has to offer, especially for their prices.

I don't want to wait until November either, but I don't see an alternative.
