I have Audacity installed that I use for recording audio from microphone input that works fine. Last night, I wanted to record some audio that was playing on my M1710, but noticed there was no "stereo mix" option as an input source. I then searched online for tools that specifically could do this and tried 3 of them, but they all had the same problem.
Through some online searching I thought it might be driver related, so I downloaded the latest drivers from Dell's site, but still, the option is not there. Overall, I don't think I'm too impressed with the way Dell deals with audio in their systems (notebooks specifically), but has anyone run into this problem before and/or know of a solution? Thanks.

I have the same problem with Vista.
Works just fine on my Acer w/drivers on XP, but on Vista it's a no go.
Are you using Vista?
If so I would Google "Vista Stereo mix problem". I myself plan to do so later on. -
I'm actually using Windows XP Pro.
