Reformatted drive. Downloaded all necessary drivers from the Dell Website. Reinstalled the following drivers in this order:
    1. Notebook System Software
    2. Chipset
    3. Video Drivers
    4. Audio Drivers
    5. Quickset
    6. Wireless Network Card (Intel R Pro Set)
    7. Network Interface card
    8. Modem
    9. Touchpad
Except for the Video Drivers and the Wireless, all the others installed OK. After downloading the Wireless driver from Intel the driver installed OK as well.
During the Video install I received the following message “One or more files required for installation are either missing or corrupt. Setup will exit.” Same message when using the Dell Driver CD to install Video.
Used Intel ChipSetUtility ID program to identify my Chipset. It said it was Mobile Intel(R) 945GM//GMS/945GML Express Chipset or Intel®945GT Express Chipset. Downloaded the recommended winxp_14324 graphics driver (Package 45665) from the Intel web site. When installing got the following message “The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit.”
Obtained updated chipset (infinst_autol) software from Intel and tried to install. Got the same “does not have minimum requirements” message.
Also used Intel Chipset support software (infinst_enu). Same message about minimum requirements.
Checked DEVICE MANAGER – Have 5 Yellow icons in front of
    1. 3 “Base System Device” entries
    2. Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus
    3. Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Does it mean that the Audio driver did not install properly either?
Could not find any help in Dell Community Forums either.
    PLEASE HELP!!

Which version of Windows did you install on your computer?

    1. Your card reader is probably not installed properly.
    2. Your modem is not installed.

Also, make sure you restart your computer each and every time an installer prompts you to.

What might happen if you don't restart and continue to install other drivers?

What I've got is that my computer (which is also an e1505) crashes when you put it to stand-by.

Last time I reinstalled Vista and restarted each time, I didn't have a problem like this. While it might not be the cause, restarting Windows takes <1 min with a clean installation so you might as well.

At the very least, restart after installing the chipset driver.

Reinstalled Widows XP Service Pack 2. The card reader must have worked properly for 2 years since I didn't notice any problems. I don't need the dial up modem if that's what you meant.
