I want to find updated drivers or hacked/modified ones, but I don't see any on the net. Not even on Dell Canada website.

Does anyone have the same DVD writer as I do?

In your search queries, try changing the term "drivers" to "firmware."

i believe that the phillips uses the XP drivers. AFAIK, there isn't any drivers specifically made for it.

There are no drivers for the optical drive; it is recognized automatically by the operating system and BIOS.

What is the problem with your drive? If it is not recognizing it, turn the laptop off, remove the drive (you need to take out the screws underneath it on the bottom of the laptop), put it back in and reboot.
