Yup, i just installed Vista and couldn't find the Ricoh card reader on the Device Manager, there aren't any warnings and everything seems to work ok but it's not there... so i decided to post a few screens of the panel so maybe you can help me find it and install it manually... however there is another problem... Windows is in Spanish! so like 75% of the devices are in spanish :S so.... any advice is welcome :D

I post the links because i don't want to resize the thread :p

Try uninstalling your USB root hub, and see if it rediscovers it when Windows automatically reinstalls it on next boot-up. The Ricoh reader is, I believe an internal USB connection, so this may help.

I am not sure this will work, nor am I sure that it won't mess anything up, but if Dell were out of options for me, that's what I would try.

Vista will update the driver if you don't hide it.

Hide the richo update from windows update first, then download the driver from Dell website, and install it.

I don't understand what do you mean by "Hide the richo update from windows update"

I tried unsinstalling almost everything that had an "USB" on it :S

I was assuming you were getting drivers update from windows.

For example, if you don't hide certain driver updates from windows, it will keep install windows version of the driver over and over.

Let's say you installed Dell's driver, then you do windows update. Windows update will install driver over your dell's driver, and the cycle will repeat unless you hide the updates you don't want.

    Hola,

I dont's have mine with me but I had an xml dump from PCMark and found these entries:

    Ricoh Memory Stick Host Controller
    Vendor_ID 0x1180
    Device_ID 0x0592
    SubSystem_ID 0x02091028
    Revision_ID 0x0012

SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller
    Vendor_ID 0x1180
    Device_ID 0x0822
    SubSystem_ID 0x02091028
    Revision_ID 0x0022

RICOH OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
    Vendor_ID 0x1180
    Device_ID 0x0832
    SubSystem_ID 0x02091028
    Revision_ID 0x0005

    Ricoh MMC Host Controller
    Vendor_ID 0x1180
    Device_ID 0x0843
    SubSystem_ID 0x02091028
    Revision_ID 0x0012

    Ricoh xD-Picture Card Controller
    Vendor_ID 0x1180
    Device_ID 0x0852
    SubSystem_ID 0x02091028
    Revision_ID 0x0012

Furthermore, I pieced together the following assumption on the actual controller name :

    Ricoh Flash Memory Card/ IEEE 1394 Controller R5C833 (SD/IO, MMC/+, MS/Pro, xD, SM)

Mabye it's not exactly what you wanted, but I hope it will give you some better idea of what is/is'nt installed driver-wise :)

    Saludos,
