Tried two Logitech MX3200's; neither will connect. Keeps seeing the HID-compliant device but doesn't ID device as mouse or keyboard. Says can't install driver.

Then tried MS Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. Downloaded Intellipoint software in desperation; still doesn't work. Same issue as with Logitech. Tried MS workaround short of wiping out my touchpade drivers, to no avail.

I tried installing the driver manually through device mgr tonight. Here's the error msg I got:

"An error occurred during the installation of the device. The driver installation file for this device is missing an necessary entry. This may be because the INF file was written for Microsoft Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor."

Of course, I can't find squat about this in the microsoft forums.

    Running Vista Home, unfortunately.

    Any help out there?

    Thanks!

That is the problem. With all three devices my computer recognizes the HID-compliant device, but says it cannot install the drivers because of a missing or incomplete entry (or something to that effect).
