    Hi all,

Trying to back up my 8600 to an external USB hard drive enclosure.

I got 2.5" hard drive case running on USB 2.0 and whacked in a 7200rpm 60Gb Hitatchi drive drive(same as my notebook) .

However having no luck with it.

I am attemtping to use Norton Ghost 2003 to backup my harddrive to the USB drive.

XP detected the USB drive no probs. However I can't see it as mapped drive or network connection.

    My problem is this:

    1) If I try to use the 'Backup' option in Ghost Basic mode - Ghost does not detect the USB drive.

    2) If I try the 'Clone to another disk' option under Ghost Advanced mode it also does not see the USB drive.

    3) If I try the 'Peer to Peer' then 'USB peer to peer ' option also under Ghost Advanced mode it finds a 'USB 2.0 Mass Storage Device' but says it is inaccessible and cannot be used when perforing a USB peer to peer task.

Am I missing something? Is my version of Ghost too old? DO I need to format/partition the disk first ? What probram will let me do that over USB?

    Cheers
