For some reason, I cannot upgrade my video card driver (8400gs). When I try to install the driver, I keep getting "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compaible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

I've tried installing 162.22 and 163.44 as well but I still get the same result. I have tried uninstalling my current driver/ restart/ then installing new driver. However, I still ended up with the same result. I have even used safe mode.

Does anyone have this problem? Is there a way to fix this?

Are you sure your choosing the right OS (vista/XP) and the right version(32/64Bit)?

    I flubbed on that once.

Yes I have vista home premium 32 bit and I downloaded the right version. It's weird. I have tried both english and the international forceware drivers.

Where are you dowloading from? If you're using laptopvideo2go, make sure you replace the original inf with the modded inf if your video adapter isn't on the original support list. And use the 'have disc' option.

this page talks about modded inf files:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8128

    you will need the file:

    nv_disp.inf

when you go to the page to download the driver, you will see:

Driver | Modded INF | INF Enhancer | Quickstart Guide

you need to download both the driver and the modded inf file and put it on your desktop!

    then follow the instructions at;

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11997

you have to uninstall your current driver and reboot before step 3, that isn't in the instructions. when you reboot, it will say standard vga or something like that for your gpu as it does in the instructions.
worked for me- same problem. make sure you follow the instructions exactly and you should be good to go.

remember- you need to download BOTH the driver and modded inf files to your desktop. then follow the instructions to a tee and viola!

Yep, anytime someone posts something about updating/upgrading a GPU or CPU, I will gladly point to you a sticky. Chaz, though, will close the thread.

We don't expect you to know this stuff. That's why we put the stickies up there. But enough about that. Just download the INF file that's right beside the download file.
