hey.. I guess I'll be sick real soon of the onboard sound chip and was wondering if you could recommend an audio card to me (should be below $50, unless really worth the higher price)

    thanks! :)

Is there any sound card out there for the PC Express cards? (Or whatever they're called).

The standard is so new that nothing is out there yet for it.

Like I said, if your notebook has a PCMCIA Slot then it should be easier but as far as I know. The E1405/E1505 and E1705 all have ExpressCard slots.

    Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExpressCard

I have yet to spot any hardware for this standard out in retail stores.

Yeah, that card is for the old PCMCIA slots. As Griffin said, I don't believe those dells have them. It's strange that there are no add in cards yet available for it.

do you have any hands-on experience with the suggested products? how good is the sound quality with those solutions? I want to be able to watch movies and play games with high quality (surround) sound

i have the Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro (retail ~$30) and it does its job. definitely better than the onboard audio, although i believe that the surround sound is virtual (software) but it does the job well. for the price and portability, IMO its worth it.
