I just bought a Dell e1505 w/DVD burner and I have been burning like crazy. After each DVD, the laptop gets very hot. I wonder if I am burning too much. Is there such a thing as burning out a DVD burner?

Any piece of hardware can fail, but I don't think "burning like crazy" is going to wear out your burner any time soon. If you make sure you have adequate air flow, the heat should dissipate fairly quickly.
