Anyone tried sticking an 8700m in there? Any word on the 8800m fitting? Has anyone opened up and checked to see how much space there is for an upgrade?

I would but i took my last laptop to pieces and couldnt fit it back together again.

Nope neither would work since its biult on the mobo.
While dedicated, its still attached to the mobo so, it can't be upgraded.

Has the 8700M of the 1730 not the same interface? Does Dell use different types for the Inspiron and the XPS?
If they are the same...theoretically it could work, so it would be worth trying.

Not true as both the Vostro 1500 and 1700 use dedicated, discreet cards which can be replaced separately and are not fixed to the mobo. It's a big reason why the 1500 & 1700 are not on Dell's list for nvidia GPU failures.

Provided they use the same connection, it is possible. Might require some fabrication.
