My m1330 should be arriving any day now and i'm wanting to upgrade the ram when i get it. I ordered it with the minimum 1gig of PC5300 ram because I can upgrade it myself for cheaper than dell offers.

I was looking at www.crucial.com site and they say it can use 2 gigs of DDR2 800 (PC6400). My two questions are:

    1. Can it use 2 gigs of DDR2 800?

    2. If it can, Can it fully utilize it? or will it just downclock it back to DDR2 667?

    Thanks!

Yes it can use it. No, it won't run at 800Mhz. Only 667MHz.

Like PowerEdge has said, you can use 800 MHz RAM. But, the chipset doesn't support it, and it will simply downclock to 667 MHz. Only use it if its cheaper than standard 667 MHz RAM.
