Is it possible to upgrade a 1.4 8600 to the 1.7?

Also will it take the Dothan 1.8 and 2.0 chips due out next week?

Yes, you can upgrade the processor, HOWEVER, this is not sanctioned by Dell and you will void your warranty if something happens to the system. Dell will not do this for you, so you would have to do it on your own. Instructions on how to do this can be found on Dell's website.

A new BIOS just came out for the 8600 that should allow for the newer Dothan chips.
