I ordered an Inspiron 1505 and what i got was a Inspiron 6400. Then I went to look up my processor information and I am supposed to have a Intel Duo Core Processor t2300, but the computer says it's Genuine Intel t2300 CPU. Are those the same things? I've already had to return it once because they put on the wrong screen, and when i looked up the system info, it says 1505 and Duo Core processor I think. Are they trying to pull the wool over my eyes with this new one they sent me?

e1505 and 6400 are the same model; only one's from dell home and the other's from dell small biz. You're processors the same too. Dell's naming is confusing and stupid, but they're not trying to pull anything on you.

ok thank god...their alternate wording is quite foolish. I also got the ATI raedon mobility X1300 graphics card on it, but the ATI Catalyst center is all messed up. It's like the window is too small and text overlaps. They also gave me no instruction booklet for the laptop at all, and no ATI CD. Am I supposed to have one? I don't know if I should contact ATI about this or Dell. Is anyone else having problems with ATI messed up menu's and having it freeze their computer?

I typed this in my other message to svae space, but I figured it should get a new topic since I have a few questions:
1). Has anyone else had a problem with the ATI Raedon Mobility x1300 Catalyst Center freezing their computer and having messed up menus? Do you think I call Dell or ATI about it ?
2). Was I supposed to get a driver CD for the ATI raedon or is that on the Dell Drivers CD?
3). Since this is a new laptop, what programs can i delete put on there by Dell that won't harm my laptop more than it already is?
I know, I'm clueless, but I'm fed up with this whole freezing and too much memory space occupied thing. I just bought the thing and I've already had to restore it twice. -
1) no problem with mine
2) Get it from http://support.dell.com/
3) just do a clean install/reformat -
thank you for your input. how do I clean/reformat?
-
there is a format sticky (link in my sig) that goes over all of the details that you need. Its not really hard, but the sticky looks long because I've cover ever detail that I can think of.
I've also walk users through formatting on messenger if you are not comfortable with formatting. -
ok thanks. I'll try to do this later, if not I'll ask for more help.

All of the drivers should be on the drivers disc if you ordered the reinstallation disc with your laptop. If not, you can go to support.dell.com and download them.
Here is the guide for your laptop. One is the service manual - tells you how to take your laptop apart if you need, and the other is owner's manual....

thank you so much. This has been frustrating and the help is much appreciated.

Your Welcome. If you have anymore problems or if that doesn't work, please let us know.
Can someone tell me if these things are the same thing?
