I am new here. I just received my Inspiron 6000 today. I generally feel OK about the system, but I am quite disappointed with the darkness of the screen. My I6000 is equipped with 1.60 Ghz/533 MHz proceesor, 15.4 inch WXGA LCD panel, and integrated Intel Media Accelerator 900 Graphics. I wonder if and how I am able to adjust the brightness and/or contrast of the screen. Thank you for advice in advance.

hold down on your blue function key and press the up or down arrows to adjust monitor brightness

If this doesnt flip your cookies you can right click on the monitor and attemp tto change brightness/contrast via your video adapter.

There are BIOs settings for default screen brightness (plugged in, and running off battery). Hit F2 during startup when prompted and you can tinker with them.
