I just download the MP061A01.EXE which is the Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 System BIOS, i try to install it, but when I run the exe file, it said 'program access denied, make sure you are logged in as an administrator.'

The thing is I am the only one user of my laptop, of course I am running the windows as a administrator, why I can not install the bios?

    Systems: Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 Series
    Version: A01
    Build Date: 03/17/2006

Intel 945GM Graphics Video BIOS version 1264

The bios of my laptop right now is:

    Systems: Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 Series
    Version: A00
    Build Date: 12/17/2005

Intel 82945GM Graphics Video BIOS version 1264

Windows doesn't think you are an administrator. Log in using the administrator account you created during the install process.

Odd, I was able to upgrade A00 to A01 without logging in as "Administrator". Something is limiting your account...

just create a new user account, then right click the .exe and "Run as..." then click the second box and type in your administrator and password of that account and it will work great :)

Did you reinstall the operating system after you got your 1705? If not, follow SouthernGirl's install guide. I'm betting this is also related to your flash drive problem.

If you haven't reinstalled XP yet, I recommend doing so. I had an odd admin issue for a particular piece of software that was solved in a similar fashion.
