Can my 1420 "sit" on its battery?

This is a silly question, but I'm curious. When placing my 1420 with 9-cell battery into a messenger bag, is it ok for my computer to sit battery side down or is it better to sit it battery side up? I know the battery isn't very stable, but for some reason, my tendency is to put my computer into the bag with the battery facing down. Thanks.

Ya, I tend to do the same thing. I don't think it really matters, to be honest.

But for 9-cell users, I would opt either to just take the battery out and place it battery-side down, or just place it front side down.

I am wondering the exact same thing. I am currently using a vertical bag to bypass this issue, but I do prefer the horizontal type.

Thanks for the replies. I'm actually considering shelling out the ~70 bucks for a 6-cell battery just to avoid the issue.. I'm just that paranoid..

Just wondering if anyone else has an opinion on this matter. Is it problematic for the laptop to 'sit' on the 9-cell battery?
