Do you have to get the warranty at the time that you order the laptop? Because l ordered mine with the base 1-year mail-in warranty and i've been thinking of bumping it up to a 2-3 year plan but l'm not so sure if l can...

I'm fairly sure you can purchase an extended warranty after you've purchased your notebook. I received in the mail last week a notice that I was eligible for some money off a 2 year warranty extension if I wanted to upgrade my warranty. That was about a week or so after I received my E1405.

I recieved an offer right after I recieved my E1505(early April).
If I remember it correct it was like a 100-150 off offer for complete care.

I don't know about that one. I think even through the Dell main page you should have to login with your e-mail addy and password to access your account. (I think) Once you login, put in your service code and see about the warranty.

If you are still having trouble, I am sure someone using EPP will help you out. :p

You should still be able to create a Dell account and login, then put in your service code in the My Computer and Perephials box. Then you should be able to purchase more of a warranty. :p

i could be wrong, but i believe you can add warranty anytime during your normal warranty; i.e., if you have a 1 year warranty, you can add as long as you're within that 1 year.

since you haven't even received your computer yet, it shouldn't be a problem... you can simply call/email/chat dell to add it.

Thanks, its good to know l can always buy a warranty in the future just in case l feel the need.

But l have another questionable thing going on...UPS tracking says my package weighs 18 lbs and to my knowledge that could only be the 5.5lb E1405, power adaptor, and the cardboard box + packing items (air bags, foam blocks etc). But 18lbs seems like 10 lbs too many. Could it be a UPS issue or did dell send me more then l asked for? :D
