I'm not sure if you can. Maybe you could request a specific screen make if you ordered by phone. I'm sure you can't do it online.

    no.

and you shouldn't worry about it.

getting one brand over another does not guarantee that you will get a good or bad LCD.

what you could do is e-mail or call them and tell them that you want an lg brand lcd on your build and if they don't do it you are going to return it... and if they don't agree ask for supervisor immediately and ask for their employee identification number along with their name... that'll crack em... and if it doesn't talk to the supervisor... tell him you want this made on your build... and pray to god it goes through... dell support is tough to deal with but deal-able...

    sorry, this simply won't work.

the sales reps you talk to are in a completely different country/work in a completely different division than the assembly line that puts the computers together. the builders are just line workers that grab parts out of buckets and install them.

again, it doesn't matter anyway because just because you get one brand of LCD in no way means it will automatically be good or bad.

    no,

you'll have to wait till you have the system and then run some analysis sw on it to read out the brand of the lcd maker.

...don't you just hate waiting for a computer to arrive....

You dont really need to know what brand it is to determine whether you like the screen or not do you?

I have no idea which one mine is and its fine.

Just have a look at the screen when you get it.... if you like what you see, then who cares what make it is. :D :p

people make WAAAAAY too big a deal out of this.

when you get your computer, fire it up, check it out and if you like it, who really cares?

Yes, you can, but only after the system ships. At that time you will be issued a service tag number. With that number you can go to the Dell support site and see the components. This will give you time until arrival of the machine to decide whether you want to refuse the shipment based on your preferences for the LCD screen. Keep in mind that refusing the shipment will delay your refund. Also, if you paid with CC you're covered, but if you paid with DPA they could charge you a restocking fee.
