I admit I jumped into my 1720 with Vista Business before doing a ton of research. I figured since I will be using at work quite a bit it would be the best thing for me, but it doesn't have the media center, which I'm totally bummed about. I called and they said they can change anything in my system, except the OS...even would have paid to get ultimate. I could cancel my order, and rebuild another with the premium or ultimate, but my EPP discount and other coupons have expired, so now it wouldn't be worth it. How much is it going to cost me to upgrade to ultimate or downgrade to premium through the Vista Live Upgrade thing?

    Ordered 7-27-07
    Shipping est 8-23-07

I had heard that you could call to get them to substitute Home Premium for Business- that sucks if it isn't true. Has anyone successfully obtained Home Premium for their Vostro? When/how did you do it (while ordering on the phone, after ordering online, etc.)?

Hi, first time posting... I ordered the Vostro 1400 this morning and called Dell Customer service about 20 minutes ago. I upgraded my order from Vista Home Basic to Vista Home Premium for only an extra $30 bucks.

Was on hold for 40 minutes, which got me a 10 sec call, and a NO answer lol. Kinda sucks, I guess I'll deal for a couple months and then upgrade to ultimate anyways. Gonna suck not having aero, and the media center though. Has everything else I guess.

The first time I called I specifically told them why I was calling(to upgrade to vista premium). they put me on hold while they transfered me to a small business cs rep. The call got cut off. I called again and I let them know that the call got cut off. They apologized and transfered me again, but this time they answered right away and re-did my order.

    Try again... don't give up.

This is the number I called by the way.. 1800-456-3355 Good luck!
