Hey All,
I have been looking around for a Dell Studio 15. I want to use it for photo-editing, office-stuff like databases and some gaming.
My question is about this gaming part. i am defenitely not a hardcore gamer, but i would like to play: The Hunter ( www.thehunter.com) in particularly. Does anyone play this game on their Dell Studio 15? Or is anyone willing to try the game on theirs? I would like to make shure it works before getting the laptop
Thanks
Jan

Minimum PC System Requirements
3GHz Intel Pentium 4 or AMD equivalent.
1GB of RAM.
Graphics card with 256MB of memory.
(nVidia GeForce 7600/ATI Radeon X1800 or higher. Intel Graphics not supported.)
Windows XP SP2 or Vista
@OneCool : L4D2 is flippin AWESOME. -
Thanks both! I know about the minimum requirements, but i am not shure about it. Minimum requirements are most of the time very low so people buy the game and then just realize that they can't play properly. And people at The Hunter forum are not shure if it is playable on a studio 15.
Does anyone want to try for me?
Thanks Jan -
I'd only worry if you were getting a Studio with integrated graphics (ie. the Intel 4500MHD). The ATI 4570 is a pretty good card. The Hunter will be a walk in the park.
-
Agreed, the 4570 should handle it just fine. It blew away Left 4 Dead 2, TF2, and Modern Warfare 2. Lots of 2's
-
I still am not shure about the playability of The Hunter on a studio 15. People at The Hunter-forum keep telling me that a Ati 4570 is not capable enough.
( See my posts at the forum: http://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.php?f=102&t=10351 ).
Can anyone try for me?
Thnx Jan -
The internet here at school is pretty slow (2 hour download time...) so I'll give it a shot (PUN!!) when I get home tonight.
-
So I was running it at 1600x900 fullscreen, Settings at Medium, High, and High, 1xAA, AF off and was getting around 17 fps... I might try lowering my settings and see what else I can get.
-
Thanks Terbo,
17 fps is low right? Did you manage to get it any higher?
Thanks Jan -
I have to admit that I completely underestimated the game, it looks gorgeous. Except the avatars look a little scary... But anywho its actually a pretty gfx intensive game, I saw my temps get up to 87oC.
I changed my settings to all medium and got my fps to about 25, but I kept my resolution at 1600x900. If I dropped my resolution to 1280x768 (or whatever it is) I'd probably have good framerates with higher quality settings.
I did notice however, that even with a framerate of around 17 it didn't seem choppy or anything. I guess that would be because everything is happening pretty slow in the game. This seems like a game that'd be processor intensive as well, but I wasn't keeping an eye on my CPU usage. -
Thanks Terbo,
Would you recommend a Dell Studio 15 to me, for playing this games? Or should i get something a little better? What do you recommend?
Thanks Jan -
Well if you want to play it on the highest settings you're going to need a better computer, but if you're willing to turn down the resolution or quality settings it'll run it fine.

Thanks Terbo

I actually had a lot of fun playing it, you can add me as a friend if you'd like. My screen name is BrettTheThreat.

Nice Terbo! I just added you
Grtz Jan -
Terbo, try playing it at your first settings but turn AA off.
AA is a framerate KILLER, especially on fillrate limited GPUs.
Can anyone play the hunter on a dell studio 15
