I happen to have a dead E1705, and access to a E1505 mobo. Can the E1505 mobo fit into a E1705?

Without a helluvalot of modding, no. Even after a helluvalot of modding, probably not.

It's just so much work pulling the mobo, I wanted to ask someone first. I'm sure the LCD and HDD connectors are identical, so the only issue would be, do any of the mounting screws fit?

None of the mounting screws will fit. The two boards are of totally different dimensions. I'm fairly certain there's no way you're going to be able to do this. Of course, you're welcome to try, and I'd actually be really interested to see you prove me wrong, but I just don't think it'll work in any way.
